In operation since 1780, Clarington Forge is the last remaining forge in England that still produces garden tools. The head of each of these forks is individually forged from a single piece of steel for strength and durability.
In fact, these are the strongest gardening tools we offer, with a strength rating far in excess of the British standard (which specifies that digging tools bear at least 121 lb of force at the end of the handle, and border tools bear 88 lb, without breakage). Though robust, they are not indestructible, so we do not recommend them for uprooting saplings or prying boulders.
The shaft is American white ash with a traditional wood/steel combination D-handle grip.
The digging fork is perfect for heavy digging, double digging, ground preparation and harvesting. It is 42" long, has a 12" × 7 1/2" head and weighs 5 lb.
The border fork is smaller, making them more suited to lighter digging or for gardeners with less strength. It is 40" long, has a 9" × 5 1/2" head and weighs 4 lb 11 oz.
Both the digging fork and border fork are also available in pairs with a matching spade.
Built to last a lifetime.
